in the following illustration you will discover the most important work steps of the "espresso cup" by studio sediment.

espresso cup production process

key facts about the product:

  • people involved in the production: 1 person
  • production time: 20 minutes active production time but 9 - 12 days of total production time for a batch of 30 pieces

highlights of the production:

  • the immaculate connection of the cup handle and the cup. it looks simple but in reality this is a very intricate piece of work, as it is very hard to bring two ceramic pieces of different colors together in such a clean eye. it takes a lot of experience and skill to make this minimalistic piece so beautiful.

did you know?

  • did you know that ceramic pieces, produced with the technique that studio sediment uses, need to go into the furnace twice? the first run is for firming the product and the second run is for firming the glaze.

words from the founder:

I wish for consumers to empathize more with the craft behind a product. Think of all the technique, skill, work and time for learning these skills goes into a single product.
